IGOROTA UPDATES: CELEBRATING CULTURE, SHARING STORIES
IGOROTA Foundation Inc. started operations in June 1987. It is a non-stock, non-profit, non-sectarian organization in re cognition of the rights and responsibilities of women to develop their God-given potential. It held its founding assembly on October 11, 1987, with the theme "IGOROTA: Life-Force in the Cordillera.

GENDER AND DEVELOPMENT
From our awareness of Gender and Development springs an ardent commitment to work in transforming gender-based relationships and structures in society. It aims to enable women to be aware of the socio-cultural and political conditions that affect their roles, choices, image, and relationships, and to facilitate responsive actions as a result of their awareness and consciousness.
ANCESTRAL DOMAIN
To ensure that our region remains worthy as our children’s legacy, we pursue efforts in response to issues of development aggression, underdevelopment, and the risks of development. It aims to sustain the resources of our ancestral domain through the Indigenous Knowledge, Systems, and Practices (IKSPs) in development work, the respect and exercise by the Indigenous People of their rights, and strengthen communities’ resilience to climate change by increasing their capacities and mainstreaming IKSPs in disaster risk reduction, and management and resiliency program.
SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE
To sustain our people’s existing indigenous practices of farming and land use towards well-being, sustainable development, and food sovereignty.
SOCIAL ENTERPRISE
To address the practical gender needs of women and provide opportunities for women’s livelihood activities towards sustainability.
Founder of the IGOROTA Foundation, and a member of the Maryknoll Mission Congregation. A commissioner of the National Commission on the Role of Filipino Women (NCRFW) during the term of President Corazon Aquino, she was an awardee of The Outstanding Women in the Nation’s Service (TOWNS) in 1987. Both milestones took place while she was serving as President of the Board of Trustees and Executive Director of the Foundation until 1990. She continues to serve the Foundation as Consultant and BOT member while serving her Congregation.
She's from Kalinga, served as editorial member of the IGOROTA Magazine that started publishing in January 1987 while she was a faculty member of Saint Louis Girls High School at Campo Filipino, Baguio City. She is also one of the outstanding women awardees in 2021. According to her, IGOROTA raised her awareness and appreciation of her identity as an Igorot woman. Currently, she is a member of the Board of the Maryknoll Ecological Sanctuary, an environment and culture advocate.
RA, a member of the Religious of the Assumption, she was Chair of the Association of Women Religious of Baguio-Benguet (AWRBB) in 1987 when she joined the Founding Board of the Foundation.
She's from Baguio City, formerly an instructor at Baguio Colleges Foundation (now University of the Cordilleras), she played a key role in launching and sustaining the Igorota Publications. Her skill in training and publications contributed greatly to the advocacy work in gender and development, Cordillera issues on land and culture. She was awarded the Outstanding Women Leaders (OWL) of Baguio City in 2012.
She's from Ifugao, she's a Bachelor of Law graduate, she provided the legal advice needed during the establishment of the Foundation.
She's from Manila, her skills in institutional building and management were instrumental in institutionalizing the systems and policies of the Foundation. She joined IFI even though it meant transferring from a more settled NGO (Non-Government Organization).
She's from Benguet, she's a former Coordinator of the Health Program in the former Montañosa Social Action Center (MSAC), Tess aimed for healthy indigenous communities. She was a member of the first Editorial Team of the Igorota Magazine.
